APJATI REJECTS INCREASE IN DEPOSITS IN LAW NO. 18 OF 2017 ON PROTECTION OF PMI

The Central Board od Directors in APJATI expressed its objection to the plan to increase deposits in the revision of Law 18 which is currently being discussed in the house of Representative. This policy is considered to have a broad negative impact on the placement of Prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI).

APJATI General Chairperson, Said Saleh Alwaini, stated that this decision was taken by considering various factors, including increasing protection for migrant workers, strengthening recruitment regulations, and increasing the competence of workers before they are sent abroad.

The Association of Indonesian Migrant Worker Services Companies (Apjati) supports the efforts of the Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding to reopen the placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in the domestic sector to the Middle East.
